| Universal
Studios Announces Shrek Musical
(May
24, 2001 - by digitalmediafx.com) On May 15, Digital Media
FX announced that Universal
Studios was beginning work on a Shrek Musical
titled "Shrek Live!" Universal Studios has now
confirmed this via the following press release:
Universal
Studios Hollywood brings the fairy-tale magic of "Shrek"
to life in "Shrek Live!," an all-new live, interactive
musical and comedy adventure, based on Dreamworks' computer
animated smash.
"Shrek
Live!" performances can be enjoyed on weekends through
June 16. From June 17 through Labor Day weekend, "Shrek
Live!" performances can be seen daily.
Designed
to appeal to the entire family, "Shrek Live!"
recounts the storybook saga of Shrek, an ornery ogre whose
precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion
of annoying fairy-tale characters, banished from their
kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad, and his mission to
rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona from a fire-breathing
dragon.
Set
on a renaissance faire-themed stage, the 20-minute live
performance of musical mayhem and comedic folly invites
guests to flex their vocal chords and participate as one
of many popular fairy tale characters, including the "Three
Little Pigs" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves."
Featuring
toe-tapping music and elaborately costumed "Shrek"
characters, "Shrek Live!" will captivate both
young and old alike in its engaging quest for the quintessential
"happily ever after" storybook ending.
