Jim Hill
and Noell Evans Join dFX Writing Team
(Santa Barbara,
CA) Award winning journalist Jim Hill and freelance writer Noell
Evans have joined the writing team of Digital Media FX (dFX),
a leading provider of daily animation and visual effects news
and features.
Beginning
April 16, 2001, Hill will pen a new column for dFX (www.digitalmediafx.com)
titled "Back to the Drawing Board with Jim Hill." The
column will give readers a unique look into the animation industry.
"I look
forward to doing stories about any and all aspects of the animation
business," says Hill. "These days, show me a major Hollywood
release that doesn't make some use of animation or CGI. Like it
or not, animation is mainstream now. It's a tool of the trade
that few in the entertainment industry really understand or appreciate.
My goal is to try and create stories that give Digital Media FX
readers better insight about all the hard work and behind-the-scenes
wrangling that goes into creating this often-overlooked art form."
Hill's columns
will appear on the 2nd and 16th of each month. However, subscribers
to the free Digital
Media FX Animation Newsletter will receive access to
the columns a day before they are published at Digital Media FX.
Noell Evans,
a freelance print and online magazine writer, has also joined
the dFX writing team as a regular feature writer. Evans has already
written three features for dFX, including a tribute to William
Hanna of Hanna-Barbera who passed away on March 22 of this year.
Evans regular features will appear at the beginning of every month.
"Animation
is one of the constants of entertainment, says Evans. "It
could be argued, in fact, that the first moving images were animations.
Digital Media FX is a great place for me to write about animation,
from these early roots to today's digital pioneers. In particular,
I enjoy looking at the founders and key players in this medium's
growth."
