Quiet debut for Nintendo's GameCube
Spirited Away Nears
Titanic Record
(by digitalmediafx.com) The hit anime, Spirited Away - which
Disney has balked at releasing in the U.S. - is headed towards
the Titanic box office record in Japan. Showing little signs of
declining, Spirited Away has brought in a massive $191 million
on its way to Titanic's $219 million. The movie, by famed anime
master Hayao Miyazaki is called Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi in
Japan. The anime follows a 10 year old girl on her journey to the Land
of Spirits where she interacts with monsters and entities.

ABC Pays $15 Million
for Jurassic Park 3 Broadcast Rights
(by digitalmediafx.com) ABC is divvying up $15 million for the rights
to air Jurassic Park 3. Under the deal, ABC will have permission
to show the movie up to four times in a 21 month period that begins in
February 2004. ABC has scored major licensing victories from this summer's
blockbusters, including the rights to air Pearl Harbor and A.I.

According to CNN:
"Greeted by small
armies of game fanatics, Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s GameCube game console tiptoed
onto shelves in Japan on Friday minus the hype surrounding the arrival
of its big-muscled rivals.
Legions of males ranging
in age from 15 to 40, many armed with Nintendo's hand-held GameBoy machines,
waited outside Tokyo stores since before dawn to be the first to take
home one of 500,000 GameCubes initially shipped for the launch..."
