John Chambers Passes Away
Prior to the 1980's
(when a makeup category was introduced at the Academy Awards) only two
makeup artists had ever been given honorary awards for their work. Chambers
was one of them. Chambers is also credited with mastering the ability
to make any actor bald using techniques decades ago that remain a standard

Pleased with Summer Ratings
On July 31, Dexter's Laboratory (9 p.m.) scored the highest household rating (2.9) and delivery (2,166,000 homes) of any Cartoon Network telecast to date in 2001.
On Aug. 21, The Powerpuff Girls (9:30 p.m.) earned its highest household rating (2.6) and delivery (1,973,000 homes) ever.
Courage the Cowardly Dog dug up its best-ever ratings and delivery on June 22 at 10 p.m. with tweens 9-14 (4.8, 820,000), kids 6-11 (7.0, 1,168,000) and kids 2-11 (7.0, 1,890,000).
Johnny Bravo boasted
its highest household rating (2.6) and delivery ever (1,953,000), plus
his best demographic ratings and delivery tweens 9-14 (5.1, 882,000)
and kids 6-11 (7.4, 1,266,000) for the July 31 telecast at 9:30

Day - Nickelodeon Writers Demand Union Representation
"As the smiling faces from Nickelodeon's popular animated series peered down from their rooftop perch, angry unionists picketed outside the animation studio's headquarters Thursday.
The protest, organized
by the Writers Guild of America west, drew an estimated 150 participants,
who demanded that Nickelodeon allow its writers to organize under WGAw
