Winning Bid for
Lunch with Roy Disney: $12,100
(by digitalmediafx.com) Someone was desperate to have lunch with Roy
Disney after a recent Disney auction promising lunch with Disney went
to $12,100. The winner, not identified by name, was the 36th bidder for
the auction and goes by the eBay name of "lcmaje". Disney had
a reserve price on the auction that was met when bidding reached $1,000
on the first day of the auction.

Playdate 2001 -
October 16
(by digitalmediafx.com) One of the lesser-known toy and gaming conventions
is the Playdate show, being held this year on October 16 at Metropolitan
Pavilion. 30 leading toy and game companies will be present to unveil
their latest offerings in time for the Christmas shopping season. One
of the reasons that the event is not well known is because it is only
open to media (versus media and consumers).
"PlayDate 2001's
'sneak peek' at the hottest toys, games and licensed properties for the
holiday season promises to be fun-filled and informative," said Sean
McGowan, co-founder of PlayDate. "For the third year in a row, PlayDate
will be early to market with the hot trends in toys and games and predictions
for the holiday season's 'Hot Sellers'. Last year it was scooters, electronic
dogs and extreme sports and we'll find out what it will be this year at
PlayDate 2001."
Some of the companies
that will be present include Acclaim, Bandai, Cranium, DSI Toys, Fisher-Price,
Hasbro, Huffy Bikes, Imagiix, Irwin Toy, K-B Toys, K'NEX, Leapfrog, LEGO,
Mattel, MGA Entertainment, Nintendo, Playskool, Radica, Rockstar Games,
Scholastic, Spin Master Toys, Take-Two Interactive, THQ, Tiger, Toy Biz,
Toymax, Toys 'R' Us, Trendmasters, Uncle Milton, VTech, Warner Bros.,
Wizards of the Coast, and Amazon.com.

Day - Is DVD Now Fairest of All?
According to the Orlando Sentinel:
"On Tuesday,
Walt Disney Co. will reintroduce its classic Snow White and the Seven
Dwarfs -- for the 10th time in 64 years. And this time -- with its release
on DVD format -- may be the biggest payday yet.
Disney hopes consumers
will scoop up the $29.99 DVD not only for the restored picture and sound
of the 84-minute, two-disc movie, but for the eight hours of bonus material,
including a documentary on the making of the 1937 movie. Disney's most
ambitious DVD to date comes amid an unprecedented wave of high-profile
digital launches this quarter..."
