Lord
of the Rings Three Hours Long!
(by digitalmediafx.com) Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
has a total running time of three hours despite objections from studio
executives who want the run time slashed so that more showings per day
can be made. Fellowship of the Ring is the first of three installments
and is rated PG-13 for "epic battle sequences and some scary images."
In the UK, the film has been given a PG Certificate for "battle violence
and fantasy horror."
The Fellowship
of the Ring soundtrack (regular version and limited edition) is being
released today. It features the original score and two songs composed
and performed by Enya.

Sequel to Balto
Set for February Release
(by digitalmediafx.com) Universal Studios is set to release a direct
to video sequel to Balto on February 19, 2002. The sequel, titled
Balto II: Wolf Quest, is directed by Phil Weinstein. Very few people
involved in the original Balto are involved in the sequel. The
sequel picks up where the original left off and focuses on one of the
six litter pups, a female that looks like a wolf and isn't accepted by
others. Leaving her family, she sets on a quest to discover more about
wolves and herself.
In other direct to
video news, Disney is hard at work on The Lion King 3 and could
mark new territory for the studio in producing direct to video sequels
to sequels.
