Private
Ceremony for Douglas Adams This Week
(by digitalmediafx.com) Later this week, family and friends of
Douglas Adams will hold a private ceremony for him in Santa Barbara
where he passed away on Friday at the age of 49 while working
out at a local gym. Adams was made famous for his Hitch Hikers
Guide to the Galaxy novel. He
was working with Disney on a stalled project on his hitch hikers
series at the time of his death. Friends and family of Adams are
now asking Disney to put the project back into production and
complete it as a tribute to Adams.
A friend of
Adams told The Times (U.K.) that Disney's continued delay of the
film project was a source of enormous frustration for Adams. The
film project was still on hold at the time of Adams death.
This week's
small ceremony in Santa Barbara will be followed next month with
a major memorial service for Adams in London.

Pearl
Harbor's Five Million Dollar Weekend
(by digitalmediafx.com) Disney is throwing a huge $5 million premiere
for Pearl Harbor this weekend in Pearl Harbor. The move
has drawn criticism from the press due to Disney recently announcing
the largest number of layoffs in its history then throwing huge
multi-million premieres. Disney, however, says the move is not
out of the ordinary as it always holds major premiere events for
its big blockbusters, including The Rock and Remember
the Titans.
The premiere
will take place aboard the USS John C. Stennis ship, which is
being retrofitted with specially designed seats to keep guests
secure during the showing.
The May 21
premiere will be filled with Hollywood stars, Washington politicians,
Navy brass, and even some Pearl Harbor survivors. The movie, which
is over two hours long, includes a 40 minute FX-filled segment
of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

of the Day - Hobbits go to Hollywood
According to The Sunday Times:
"The
secrecy surrounding Hollywood's version of Lord of the Rings has
finally been lifted. The first footage of what will be a trilogy
of films telling JRR Tolkien's epic fantasy was shown to a select
audience at the Cannes film festival last week: it revealed a
Middle Earth scarier and stranger than many expected
