The Lost Empire Mini SeriesFX Miniseries Experiences Low Ratings
(by NBC's two part FX miniseries, The Lost Empire, received low ratings on both Sunday and Monday. The series was about an ancient Chinese myth brought to life when a scholar is summoned by gods to fight the forces of evil in order to retrieve an ancient scroll and save the world. On Sunday night, The Lost Empire scored a low 5.7/8 rating and on Monday it scored a lower 5.0/8 rating. For comparison purposes, on Sunday night CBS scored a 9.3/14 with Touched By An Angel (which aired against The Lost Empire) and Fox scored a 9.4/13 rating with Malcolm in the Middle.

In other ratings news, The Simpsons continues to perform strongly every week. Sunday night at 8PM it brought in a 9.9/15 rating.

Digital Effects and Animation Technology Curriculum
(by Yesterday, Piedmont Community College announced that it has named 16 members to the Advisory Board for its new Digital Effects and Animation Technology (DEAT) curriculum.

The board is responsible for providing advice on curriculum development, materials, equipment and educational policies to ensure that instruction is consistent with employment needs in the industry. Members of the advisory board also represent the DEAT program to others in the industry, and they will assist in providing co-op and internship experiences for students in the program.

The Advisory Board consists of the following people: Steve Reid of Red Storm Entertainment in Morrisville; Jill Smolin and Kevin Lingenfelser of Cine Site in Los Angeles; Richard Aldridge of Catwalk Digital Post in Charlotte; David Brigham, a current student at PCC; Bill Campbell of Ed Kemp Associates in High Point; Mike Davis of Post Central in Charlotte; Sean Deverau of Digital Domain in Venice, Calif.; Bryan Devereaux of The Wantages Network in Beverly, Mass.; Joshua Gibson of Duke University in Durham; Ryan Jackson of Ryan Jackson Imaging in Chapel Hill; Mike Kelley of Leprechaun Design & Animation in Charlotte; Patrick Reams of TVI in Raleigh; Gary Todd of Televisual Productions in Greensboro; and Jeffrey E. Warmouth of Fitchburg State College.

Piedmont Community College is located in north central North Carolina.

According to BBC News:

"An eight-year copyright dispute between the giant Disney corporation and music publisher Boosey & Hawkes has been settled.

The British music company had been suing the American entertainment giant over the use of a piece of music by Stravinsky, called Rites of Spring, in the 1940 film Fantasia..."
