Dennis the Menace Turns 50
(by digitalmediafx.com) Tomorrow Dennis the Menace will turn 50. The comic strip, first published on March 12, 1951, is still being published in over 1,000 newspapers even though the creator stopped drawing the strip 10 years ago.

The creator of the comic strip, Henry Ketcham, almost shares a birthday with the anniversary. On March 14, Ketcham will turn 81 years old. According to the Associate Press, "Ketcham credits Dennis' innocence for the strip's longevity."

Ketcham's name is also associated with the animation community. In his early years he did work for Walt Disney for animated films like Pinnochio.

Batman: The Special Edition
(by digitalmediafx.com) Fans of the live action Batman movies will be pleased to know that a special edition Batman DVD is in the works for release later this year. The DVD will contain commentary, features, deleted scenes, trailers, and other bonus material. Like with The Iron Giant Special Edition DVD, Warner Bros. has yet to make the official announcement regarding the DVD, but is expected to do so within the next several months.

Here's our question for the directors: How can Batman's advanced Bat Plane miss every single shot fired at the Joker (even with the target locked), yet the Joker can bring down the Bat Plane with a single shot from a gun?

For Batman fans, Digital Media FX highly recommends the animated Batman: Mask of the Phantasm which has a strong story mixed with a good balance of action, drama, and even a touch of romance.

X-Men: Evolution - UnXpected Changes

Warner Bros. Brings Two "X-Men" Animated Titles to Video
(by digitalmediafx.com) Warner Bros. has announced that on May 1 it is releasing two titles from its "X-Men Evolution" series to video.

The titles are "UnXpected Changes" and "Xplosive Days" -- two animated adventures from "X-Men: Evolution." The videos will sell for $12.95.

In related news, Warner Bros. has announced that it is slashing the price of its movie, The Iron Giant, to $14.95. Digital Media FX reported on March 5 that Warner Bros. is set to release The Iron Giant Special Collector's Edition later this summer. The price decrease of The Iron Giant could be a precursor to the announcement of the special edition DVD.

News Link of the Day - A Real Cutup

According to the Washington Post:

"Jackie Chan is both fun and funny. The martial arts star has appeared in more than 50 movies and has a WB kids show, 'Jackie Chan Adventures,' that is part animation, part live-action. It airs Saturdays at 9 a.m. on Channel 50, and next season will run six days a week.

Chan's English isn't perfect, but he doesn't seem to mind..."
