Prime Move for SpongeBob' on Nick Sked
Shrek Reaches
$150 Million!
(by digitalmediafx.com) Shrek passed the $150 million mark
on Monday, making it only the eight animated production to reach that
level (not adjusting for inflation of earlier films). In addition, Shrek
catapulted to #8 on the Top
10 Highest Grossing Animated Films list and it shows no signs
of slowing down.
Over the weekend,
Pearl Harbor barely beat Shrek at the Box Office, officially
bringing in $29.5 million while Shrek brought in $28.2 million.

Study: Too Much
Tobacco and Alcohol in Animated Features
(by digitalmediafx.com) The June issue of Pediatrics contains a study
by Kimberly Thompson and Fumie Yokota of the Harvard School of Public
Health that shows nearly half of all characters appearing in "G"
rated animated features use alcohol or tobacco.
The study also found,
however, that such use in animated features has been on the decline in
recent years.

Atlantis: The Lost
Empire Opens Friday at the El Capitan Theater
(by digitalmediafx.com) Walt Disney's PG-rated Atlantis: The Lost
Empire opens at the El Capitan theater this Friday before opening nationwide
on June 15, 2001. The showtimes at the El Capitan, located in North Hollywood,
are 9:30AM, 11:50AM, 2:10PM, 4:35PM, 7:00PM, and 9:20PM. Those viewing
the movie at the El Capitan will get to go next door to Disney's elaborate
Destination: Atlantis exhibit, an "exploration of the lost city."

According to The New York Post:
"Some big changes
are in store for Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants.
The animated series
will move to prime time for the first time ever beginning July 2 - attesting
to its ranking as the second-most-watched kid's show behind sister Nick
series Rugrats
