Centennial Tribute to Walt Disney Sold Out 12-05-2001 (by digitalmediafx.com) Tonight's "Centennial Tribute to Walt Disney," celebrating what would have been Walt's 100th birthday, is sold out and only ticket holders will be permitted to tonight's event hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Digital Media FX detailed the event in last Sunday's dFX Animation and Visual Effects Newsletter. Here's an Academy synopsis of the event and film: "This unique film program will trace the life and career of this beloved storyteller, and include a number of rare cartoons, home movies, innovative live-action clips as well as 'behind the scenes' footage. Family members and creative talents from Disney's films and studio staff will join host Leonard Maltin on stage to share their memories of this true Hollywood original." It is unknown at this time if the film presentation will make its way to video or DVD.
