Matrix
Anime Shots on the Way - Cast Member Killed
(by digitalmediafx.com) Some anime scenes supporting the story
of The Matrix will be released to DVD on November 20, 2001 as
part of a major documentary on The Matrix series. In addition,
the DVD will provide an inside look at The Matrix Reloaded and
The Matrix 3.
According
to Daily Variety, "With the debut of ``Matrix Reloaded''
not expected until May 2003, Warner Bros. is trying to maintain
interest in the franchise by introducing a 2-1/2-hour documentary
on the movie and its sequels this fall and hiring directors to
produce anime episodes of the stories."
This is the
second biggest news in the last four days regarding The Matrix.
On Saturday, a plane carrying 22-year old actress/singer Aaliyah
crashed, killing her. Aaliyah had roles in both The Matrix Reloaded
and The Matrix 3. She had already filmed several scenes for the
sequel.

3D Modeling
for Jewelry Designers Introduced
(edited press release) Caligari Corporation today announced jewelSpace
1, a new version of its trueSpace 3D modeling and animation program,
customized for the jewelry design market. The software provides
an easy-to-use, flexible 3D interface that lets jewelry designers
work in a natural way, directly manipulating their designs in
real-time. Finished designs can be output in a wide variety of
formats for delivery to customers, rapid prototyping and milling
machines, and for display on the web. The output is photorealistic,
to exact scale and specifications, and viewable from all angles,
allowing for new medium communication with goldsmiths, model makers,
and customers.
"We're
bringing 15 years of 3D experience to the jewelry design market,"
said Roman Ormandy, Caligari president. "jewelSpace's unique
interface allows designers to directly manipulate 3D objects,
ensuring that a designer's creativity isn't limited by the tools.
You can literally 'reach into' your design workspace to build
models and make changes, almost as if you were sculpting by hand.
These designs can be easily shared with customers, even over the
Web, then be approved, sent directly to a 3D printer, and within
hours you have a wax prototype, ready for casting!"
The complete JewelSpace1 proTeam package, including jewelSpace
software and all proTeam services, is now available directly from
Caligari for $2000; annual proTeam renewal fees are $1200.
