Osmosis Jones Bombs
on Opening Day
(by digitalmediafx.com) Osmosis Jones opened in 7th place at the
box office on Friday, bringing in only $1.86 million. The live action
mixed with animation movie failed to draw audiences, who instead flocked
to movies like Disney's The Princess Diaries and Rush Hour 2.
Osmosis Jones took a pounding by several critics, many who actually liked the animation but felt that the overall story (particularly the live action scenes) were executed poorly. The opening for Osmosis Jones is the poorest of the year for an "animated movie" with the exception of the limited release The Trumpet and the Swan last May.
Pixar Has Big Faith
in Monsters, Inc.

excellent quarter and continued building anticipation for Monsters,
Inc. on November 2, 2001. DreamWorks, meanwhile, responded to the
news by announcing it is releasing a deluxe Shrek 2-disc DVD set
on the same day that Monsters, Inc. hits theaters (which is not
a normal release date for DVDs).
Audience testings
for Pixar's Monsters, Inc. have been astronomical, ranking even
higher than the audience tests for Toy Story. Shares of Pixar rose
over 5% this last week.
Soundtrack for
Osmosis Jones Released

Jones was released into stores this week featuring no background scores
in favor for songs from Sunshine Anderson, Brandy, Craig David, De La
Soul, Drama, R. Kelly, Kid Rock featuring Joe C., Debelah Morgan, Nappy
Roots, Nivea, Solange, Trick Daddy, and Uncle Kracker.
