DreamWorks
Releases Shrek Behind the Scenes Teaser
(by digitalmediafx.com) DreamWorks continues to heavily market
Shrek in anticipation of a giant opening on May 18. DreamWorks
has just released a behind
the scenes teaser with quotes from several voice over
artists and new footage not seen in the trailers. A look behind
the scenes shows how Shrek will appeal to both males and
females alike. For example, in once scene, the princess is waiting
to be rescued and she meticulously plans out exactly how the rescue
will take place, how she will look
every little detail.
In comes Shrek, getting right to the point by shaking her
awake and practically dragging her out of the tower. So much for
being swept off her feet by a knight in shining armor.
DreamWorks
could get a major publicity boost if Shrek is chosen as
one of the films to be represented at the prestigious Cannes International
Film Festival. The festival represents "works of quality
in order to contribute to the progress of the motion picture arts
and to encourage the development of the film industry throughout
the world." Shrek is a contender as the films selected
to be shown will be announced at the end of the week. It is very
rare for an American animated movie to be selected for the festival.

Enhanced
Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV Coming to Playstation
(by digitalmediafx.com) Square Electronics has announced that
it is bringing enhanced versions of its past games, Chrono Trigger
and Final Fantasy IV to the Playstation as part of a dual bundle
package. The bundle will be released in July.
"We are
pleased to deliver these two titles to our North American fans
on the PlayStation game console," said Jun Iwasaki, president
of Square Electronic Arts. "Since the release of Chrono Cross
last August, we've received an overwhelming number of fan requests
to re-release Chrono Trigger for the PlayStation game console.
We have added a variety of new features to both Final Fantasy
IV and Chrono Trigger for this compilation and believe this set
will appeal to fans of the original games and introduce a new
generation of gamers to some of our classic titles."
Chrono Trigger
will have new opening and closing cinematic sequences and several
re-creations of memorable sequences, all of which add to the game's
emotional impact, answer lingering questions, and offer insight
into the game's successor, Chrono Cross.
The enhanced
Final Fantasy IV will include a "dash" feature, allowing
players to move quickly through towns and dungeons; a two-player
mode that allows two players to participate in battles together;
and a completely new, improved localization of the original unedited
story. In addition, it contains some new cinematic sequences and
includes all the original monsters, abilities, items and scenes
that were not seen in the SNES version.
The cost of
the bundle will be around $40.

of the Day - Final Fantasy: Making the Movie
According to the MSNBC:
"Having
spent an estimated $70 million on the Final Fantasy movie, Square
has developed proprietary technology that outshines its best competitors.
Square's computer animation stands to do for human subjects what
Pixar's has done for toys.
The company
that made role-playing games a household phrase is about to teach
Hollywood the meaning of computer graphics. Hold on to your hats,
folks..."
