Jim Hill to Join Digital Media FX Team as Animation Columnist
(digitalmediafx.com) Tomorrow, Digital Media FX will distribute a press release announcing that Jim Hill is joining the Digital Media FX team as a regular columnist. The award winning journalist, who writes for newspapers and select online Websites, will provide Digital Media FX readers with a regular inside look into the animation industry. His column will appear twice a month, on the 2nd and 16th. Subscribers to the Digital Media FX newsletter will regularly receive an advance look at each of Jim Hill's columns. More information will be released tomorrow.

Softimage Announces New Managing Director
(digitalmediafx.com) Softimage has named Michael Stojda as the new managing director of Softimage Co., Avid's Montreal-based animation and special effects subsidiary. Stojda will provide strategic business and operational leadership for the company.

"Softimage has long been synonymous with innovation and excellence in animation and effects. We recently introduced a new version of our 3D content creation product, SOFTIMAGE XSI, which enables animation facilities to redefine the way they work," said Stojda. New LegendsNew Legends Latest X-Box Title to be Announced
(by digitalmediafx.com) THQ will release a new game for the X-Box, at the same time the system ships this falls, called New Legends. New Legends will transport X-Box owners to a futuristic China gripped in war. Technology and mysticism have blended to create a rich and dangerous world divided into the feudal lands of the ancient past as humans, demons and gods roam the territories.

As Sun Soo, the game's lead character, players will battle to free their homeland using a variety of weapons and fighting skills. New Legends is the brainchild of Infinite Machine president and game designer Justin Chin, creator of the PC title Jedi Knight.
