Below are Frequently Asked Questions
and Answers about Disney's Atlantis.
Q:
When does Atlantis open in U.S. and U.K. theaters?
A:
Atlantis: The Lost Empire opens in the U.S. on

longer as it isn't scheduled for release there until October
19, 2001!
Q:
What is Atlantis rated?
A:
Atlantis: The Lost Empire is rated PG by the Motion
Picture Association of America for "action violence."
Q:
Is this movie OK to take my children to see?
A:
The PG rating comes from "action violence."
Atlantis doesn't have the language problems that
DreamWorks' Shrek had, but Atlantis does
contain more animated violence. The only way for you to
properly determine if the movie is OK for your children
is for you to first view it by yourself.

I heard that one of the voice actors in Atlantis
died. Is this true?
A:
Yes, it is true. Jim Varney, who voices Cookie the cook
in Atlantis: The Lost Empire, passed away on February
10, 2000. Because his voice track had been mostly completed,
Disney kept his voice in the film, making Atlantis
Varney's last official project before his untimely death.
Varney is also known for voicing Slinky Dog in Toy
Story and Toy Story 2. Varney is best known
for his portrayal of Ernest P. Worrell in the popular
TV specials and movies, like "Ernest Goes to Camp."
Q:
What is The Shepherd's Journal?
A:
For Disney's Atlantis, The Shepherd's Journal is
the journal of a man named Aziz, who was believed to have
discovered a civilization of Atlantis. His writings, however,
were written in an unfamiliar language that many scolars
spent years translating. In Disney's Atlantis,
Milo Thatch receives this journal which is the start of
his journey to find the legendary lost city. The Shepherd's
Journal did *not* really exist and was created as part
of the mystery to the animated movie.
Q:
Who animated Atlantis? Was it Disney or Pixar?
